According to MS website, AoM isn't released yet and no trial version is currently available. But Actiontrip reviewed this game and let us download the demo (337 MB). How it is possible? Is MS website backdated?

It got a pretty high score at Gamespot.com
I saw the screenshotzs though, and they dont look so great at all. Everything looks small and un-detailed...
I'd play it if someone bought it for me...😛

 AoM sucks! AoM sucks!AoM sucks!

I have played AoM for few hours. This game really sucks compared to AoE-2.

In terms of graphics, models and objects are very tiny, like original AoE. In a 15" CRT monitor, it becomes really awful to look at the screen. In one word, you can say this game's graphics is improved version of original AoE graphics. I hope, AoM-2 (If MS and Ensemble studios makes it) graphics will look like improved AoE-2 graphics.

History screen of AoM seriously sucks compared to history screen of AoE-2.

AoE's history screen was way better than AoM for describing nations and units.

Technology tree of AoE-2 is also much better than AoM. AoM's one page compact technology tree is much harder to use than AoE-2's larger technology tree.

In AoE-2, monks was very useful at healing injured units. But there is no monk in AoM, like original AoE. This is not a serious problem because resources are plentiful compared to AoE-2. I think, less resources with monks are better than plenty of resources and no monks.

AI of AoM is not a bit better than AoE-2.

Cutscenes of AoM are nice, but AoE-2's story telling method was good, too.

My overall impression about this game: This game looks and feels like original AoE. I want AoM-2.

Hmm, looks like most of THGC memebers don't like RTS game or not interested in AoM

I looked forward to AoM since it was first announced. I have been playing the games since the first AOE. I am not at all disapointed with AoM. The units are "tiny" and look "crappy"? You can zoom in and out, it starts you out farthest away becuase it is much easier to play and you can have much more control over a greater number of units. The units have more deatail than what you think. There apperance changes when you get armor upgrades. Take a look at some of the myth units if that doesnt satisfy you. The game cant look THAT great, you can zoom in and out and fully rotate the camera. If you think the game sucks compared to AoE-2 that's probably becuase you want it to be AoE-2, and it's not. If you had played the game for more than a few hours you would have realized that infact there are monk-like units. One of the norse gods has a bonus as to where all of there units heal over time. As well as the norse having a myth unit that heals other units. The greek have a tech so when you stand units near a temple they heal. The egypt have priests that are exactly like monks accept for they have a ranged attack! That isn't counting any of the godpowers. The AI of AoM not better than AoE-2? I guess you havent played the computer on titan. This game looks like the orignal AoE if you want it to. However, it in no way plays like it. If any of what i said seemed personal please dont take it that way, as it wasnt meant that way.

my friends love the game but i cant stand it. When they play it at LAN's i log on to battle.net and play warcraft 3. It's so slow, and doesn't seem to be much different than AOE2, another game that i don't like real well.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...tweak it.

For what it is , I find it fun to play...
I know people who prefer Civ2 over Civ3 & People who liked Sim City best of all the sim games...
(they could well be crazy but hey I like playing XCOM: Apocalypse when I can get it to work...)
What the game needs is a zoom so you can see the characters & action sequences better...
Though the game engine is superior & the AI pathfinding needs work (need I give an example, I think not) but AI in all games is poor...

PS yes I have been spoilt by Neverwinter Nights...

is it summer already ??? oh, its just the heat haze coming off my PC...

Yes, I found the way how to heal units.

About AI:- I want to mean, my units scatter in the battlefield breaking the formation, just like AoE-2. This makes painful to control my units in battle. AoM showed no improvement in this sector.

Zoom and Rotation:- Please tell me how can I use the zoom feature, I can't find it anywhere

You can zoom using the + or - next to the backspace. Rotation has to be enabled in the options, you push ctrl + the left or right arrow i belive(I am yet to use rotation in an online game). I agree that the pathing for units does need a lot of work.

I have used the zoom feature, but this game was designed to display small objects. Objects look worse in bigger shape. AoE-2 was designed to display bigger objects.

Hmmm, my scroll button does rotation for me, must try out the zoom, somehow missed that... (note to self, READ THE MANUAL, it may be useful)

I have a really beef with Microsoft on this game. My wife bought for me at Christmas and nowhere on the box does it say that the game will NOT run on a lot of video cards. I had installed it and and was trying to get it to run but kept getting a stop command in XP Pro. After the usual troubleshooting methods of checking drivers and such went to the Microsoft site. After digging down in the site found a long list of unsupported video chipsets including mine. You would think the install would detect the unsupported chipset and warn you. I use a Toshiba laptop so updating the video is not an option. Luckily I was able to take it back and got Rallysport Challenge instead. Pity I have been playing Ages since AOE I but they lost a supporter on this one.

These unsupported cards are too weak to run the game. AoM supports all cards that are capable of running this game.

No doubt about it, this game sucks rotten eggs.
The game characters are indistinguishable from each other. Playing the game takes much too long. The mythology is watered down.

No doubt about it, this game suffers from the sequel syndrome. I loved the age of empires series, but I am seriously disappointed by the Age of Mythology sequel.

Yes, human units look very similar. I think, they made human units small because they wanted to show myth units bigger. And different kind of myth units are very different to look at. BTW, who wants to fight in this game with human units..... Build a strong army containing all myth units, and you've done it.

you can tell everyone who rags on aom didnt play it very long. or even play it objectively. if u want aoe go freaking play aoe. imo aom is a much better game. the story line is awesome and the characters and units are interesting and fun to play with. the game setting is perfect. the senarios dont take FOREVER to complete and the difficulty settings are appropriate. i am NOT a hardcore rts gamer but i do enjoy most of them. i like aom because you dont have to read a 200 page manual to figure out how to play it and you can sit down for about 30-45 minutes and finish a level or two. i hate trying to complete a mission and before long 2+ hours have gone by and im not even close to winning. aom has been getting great reviews and it deserves them. its a very fun game.

i bought the game and found it pretty good. I like it as much as WC3, of course anything that isnt like WC3 reminds me of being old school but I think the gameplay is decent, the graphics are actually pretty good.. like one review said, its true 3d that looks like 2d. Which is the way you want it because usually 2d has more detail and 3d does not.

I never liked AOE games, I only barely played AOE1/2 so this is coming from a non-aoe players standpoint. I am a huge warcraft fan since the first one was released (bought it the first day on the shelf!)
