If your not planing on doing any hardcore gaming you may be better off just buying a cheap PC from like compaq, hp, or another reputable dealer.

If you decided your going to replace parts on your own your looking at spending quite a bit of money. the minimum parts you will probably have to buy would be"

CPU
Motherboard
RAM
Hard Drive
Video Card (unless your mobo has onboard and use it)
Power Supply
Operating System (unless you have a copy you can use)

by the time you replace all of those parts you may be better off buying a pre-assembled PC. You can buy a new compaq with the following for under 500 bucks.

intel celeron D 3.06 ghz 5323 FSB
512 RAM
80GB Hard Drive
48x CD burner
Windows XP Home

I am still new here to but unless your planing on doing some video editing or hardcore gaming you really dont need much in your PC.

i would also wait and get some opinions from some of the regulars.
