[SOLVED] Upgrade from Leopard to El Capitan?

HI I am working on an old macbook (not pro) 5,1 for a client. To update to el capitan the software must be at least Snow Leopard. I do not have a snow leopard disk I checked the system requirements for el capitan and it meets all of them. I wanted to know if I can download el capitan on my macbook pro put it on a flash drive and launch it from the clients macbook desktop.
