Approximate Purchase Date: Old components where bought in october 2018

Budget Range: 1500- 2500€

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming(eve online, black desert online) , Virtualization, Developing web/desktop apps, android emulators etc

Are you buying a monitor: Yes, but only 1, i need one screen with good resolution to not be locked into 60fps with non full screen

Parts to Upgrade: probably everything except nvme disks and maybe the case?

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, my current windows license is OEM

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I only buy on amazon, since if i have issues with any products they always offer me refund witouth even asking or give me another one

Location: Spain

Parts Preferences:
I would like to upgrade to am5 since i think is cheaper in quality and cost but im not 100% sure, im opened to everything as long as it supply my needs

Overclocking: Maybe but only for specific cases never 24/7 of the time

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: 2560 * 1440

Additional Comments:
I have dualboot with windows and ubuntu, I use Vmware, Eve online and black desert and i use to have a lot windows open while exploring multitasking most of time, playing + watching a video movie and exploring on internet etc

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Performance issues, current hardware is not giving me the best experience im already having some performance issues with my current computer and would like to upgrade to something strong and maintanable during the next decade if possible or atleast 6-8 years like current one, i threat them and maintain it good its not dead yet but its already gfiving me problems and i really think its time to change it.

Yeah, some good components in your build. But here is what I put together.

I would swap the CPU coolers, you probably need to order or request a mounting kit from Noctua. Amazon carries them if you want to rush it.

Not sure "with heatsink" versions of the SSDs are ideal in this situation. I suppose you could clone the 500GB drives over to the 1TB, but I felt a more dense drive was the way to go and leave room for the 500GB drives if they are needed to keep the VMs.

That X670 Motherboard has 4 M.2 slots, for future expansion.

This allows you to reuses most all of your current components. Contact Noctua for a LGA-1700 adapter for your cpu cooler. You might have to size up on your psu depending on your choice of gpu.

The sku with the heatsink was available while the other was not at the same price. Can always use the heatsinks they come with because they are better than the included ones on the motherboards anyways. I chose two 1tb drives because he has done dual booting and used VMs before. Also the board I selected has a third NVMe slot for a mass storage SSD.

I would say update your mobo bios and get the 5800X3D. and get a GPU to game in 2k.

And maybe a fresh install of OS and the software might help.

your other old components are high end and are excellent choices.

The difference in boosting performance of this vs buying a entire highend build from 0 or almost 0 just reusing maybe the disks and psu(if possible) gonna be a lot? because im using x2 money

Im also virtualizing and having more ram would be good with a new bios but swapping to am5 it uses a lot more money for maybe not a lot return

You still have 2 more ram Slots to use in your mobo. And you also have the option of ryzen 5950X for your VM tasks.

You can find benchmarks for games and multitasking to compare the 5950X with 7900X3D or 7950X3D.

But if you want AM5 and the option to upgrade to newer gen chips, i would suggest something like this:

You can still reuse the case storage and maybe the PSU.

Get this offset mounting bracket for your NH D15:

If you want AM5:

Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory (€247.80 @ Amazon Espana)
Video Card: Asus TUF GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12 GB Video Card (€909.00 @ Amazon Espana)

this one draw my attention too, PSU should be fine using it after 5+ years? im maybe litle scared of having some issue with it in some years and destroying my GPU/CPU etc, wouldnt be safer to also add a decent new PSU?

I might do this and save some money since its a decent upgrade, ill look more into benchmarks for virtualization and gaming performance.

Sorry to ping you again but

What would be the performance change of doing this vs fully swapping to am5?

Because its almost x2 expensive but i will get x2 performance or close to it?

im maybe thinking into going this way im still looking and trying to figure out a answer by my own+asking, thanks a lot for all the help btw lucky

btw i put the motherboard wrong too, didnt realize, is this one

Asus PRIME X470-PRO AMD AM4 X470 ATX

checking my motherboard it supoorts 5800x3d

7800x3d uses 105W
4070ti 250W and its recommended a PSU of 700+

my evga has 750 so i should be pretty safe i guess with my current setup

thanks everyone gonna just order the changes RN will come up with feedback as soon as i put new stuff

The gains from 5800x3d to 7800x3d is about 15 to 20% more performance at best. Definitely not double the performance.

That said, am5 is in it's 1st gen chips and mobo. 5800x3d is a very good cpu for today's standards. I would say spend more on the gpu now n just upgrade the cpu.

fully depends on whether you don't mind spending the 2500 dollars for max performance and aesthetics or if you are looking to spend the least amount possible.
If you want to go all out on this upgrade, I would absolutely go for AM5, and definitely get a new graphics card.
Since I do not know your current specs, I can't really tell what I would and wouldn't upgrade, so I put together a list of components to build an entirely new computer, which is what I would go for in your situation, or at least what I know about it.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (about $385)
CPU Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4
Motherboard: Gigabyte GIGA X670 AORUS ELITE AX (about $260)
RAM: 2x16GB Kingston Fury Beast 6000MHz DDR5 (about $120)
GPU: Asus GeForce RTX 4070 TUF Gaming OC 12GB (about $650)
Power Supply: Corsair RM850x
Case: Fractal Design Pop XL Air
Monitor: Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ (1440P 165Hz IPS HDR 1ms 350cd/m, about $250)

I'm not an expert on storage so just pick whatever you think will fit your build best or reuse what you already have.
Gigabyte motherboards are the best in my opinion because of nice features and very beefy VRMs especially for the price.
The RAM is probably the best compatibility wise for Ryzen 7000, and it's 6000MHz which is quite fast. No RGB though.
I chose a good price to performance GPU, assuming you are OK with 4000 series, personally I'd go with a 3080.
I myself own both the Pop XL Air case and the VG27AQ monitor and am in love with both of them.
The case is huge and offers a ton of space, you can literally fit a dvd drive under a 360 mil AIO, and a super long GPU in the future.
The monitor is just gorgeous for its price, nothing else to say.
