Question Upgrade RX470 to 1660Super or wait/save a bit more for 2060Super / 3000Series.

I currently have an RX470 and saved $300 to, maybe, buy GTX 1660 Super but isn't 100% sure if I should buy it now or save a bit more for RTX 2060 Super or wait for 3000 series,

I mainly play games at 1080p and my RX470 is having a hard time pumping a consistent 60fps at the highest setting even with OC.
When I say 60fps, I mean, consistent 60fps and not dipping to ~20fps 30ms frametime when something happens on my screen.

So, either I buy a 300$ 1660S or spend another month or two to save 100$ more for RTX 2060Super, but I think when I do save 400$ on Oct/Nov 3000 series has come out.
Do you guys think there'll be a 400$ 3000 series gpu? Should I just buy 1660S then regret everything during Christmas? The long wait is hurting me.

I would wait a bit- even if you don't wind up buying a new 3000 series gpu, prices on current stuff should go down a bit once it's released....

Right, I could just buy 300$ 1660S, continue saving up 150$ then when 3000 series comes out, or 2000 series goes down in price I could just shrink wrap 1660S and sell it for 270$ to buy new cards on Christmas.

Prices will go up... why do people keep saying that the prices on the old cards will go down, because they don't.
When Nvidia halts production on a gpu to start on a new one, the price for the old one will go up, not down.
I remember when it happened with the 10 series, and this will be no different.
Speak of the devil, it's already begun...

That depends on a lot of factors - including the current demand vs supply of parts. Typically you would expect demand for the older stuff to drop in the wake of new parts being released (this is very much the case with CPUs and also with AMD gpu's a lot of the time and historically it was with nVidia - although I note that given how they tend to stagger launches - holding the lower tier parts back initially and also making sure to constrain supply of older parts before hand nVidia have managed to manipulate things to stop this it seems).

That aside, in the event of a new GPU series release even if there isn't a good deal to be had on the older parts there is very likely a better option available in the new series, although that may require waiting longer for the lower tier cards. I mean if you aren't set on a specific brand then there's also a good chance that new nVidia cards will force a price drop on AMD's equivalent cards even if the nVidia cards don't go down. A 5600XT or 5700 card for the price of a 1660s would be a decent purchase for example.
