im curious.
If i were to upgrade to a ryzen 9 3950x with my current x370 motherboard, what technological advancements would i gain with a new x570 mobo over my old x370 aside from the pcie gen 4.0?

Solution
For every day or gamer use nothing. PCIe 4 really still has a niche market to users who can take advantage of its bandwidth.

The one thing you should be wary of about going to a 3950X is your mobos VRMs, if you have a lower end X370 board then upgrading to a good X570 may be more about its ability to handle the 3950 then PCIe4

Thanks.

x370 xpower gaming ti from msi seems to have real good vrm with large heat sinks and pipes.
i think it should cover for power delivery.
And i dont intend to OC unfortunetly.

anything else? Like how is xfr and pbo functionality and the full range of stock frequency is concerned or anything else i might miss with if i dont go x570.

Unless you plan on doing heavy multi core/thread applications its a waste. The 3700X is perfect for gaming and streaming and light to moderate editing/production work. I understand the desire to have the best, but the best in this case wont give you any more framerate.

Most practical gains on x470/x570 MBs over x370 are about memory handling because of improved memory topology. It's much easier to have faster RAM (3800MHz or over) on x470/x570 MBs and it would be pity not to take advantage of it with such CPU as all Ryzen respond nicely to fast RAM.

So i went into bios today and check if my current MB supports 4000+ mhz ram speeds and indeed it does.
Does this mean that if i were to upgrade to 3950x with my current x370 MB and faster ram, that i can run a-xmp to 4200mhz if i buy such ram kits?
