Greetings ..
now with all benchmark reveal and 1080 hit the market i thinking to upgrade my R9 290 tri-x(@CROSSFIRE) setup to gtx 1080.. OR should wait for gtx 1070 and do SLI config ..i saw those beautiful new bridges... I’m only interesting 4k/60 fps gaming but as i saw from benchmark gtx 1080 cant deliver this..

Solution
honestly I own a gtx 1080 it's not nearly as fast as jayz2cents linus tech etc I done my frame rates on steam and didn't get nearly as high as they done the gtx 1080 isn't as fast as the gtx 980 sli as people thought prior to coming out if you're into frame rates then u ought to wait to go with the gtx 1070 or wait even longer to avoid paying the extra 100 dollar charges like they done with the gtx 1080
Probably the best solution to be sure. 4K is still too demanding at 60+ fps minimum quality. I'm thinking of going to 2K myself if I can find a low latency, 144Mhz monitor. Until then, I too am sticking with 1080P. Enjoy your games again.

that's the only way to know 4 sure if the card or cards can handle them , I had 2k 2560x1440 p my cards still heat up the room like a furnace and I didn't want to deal with it besides all that I bought a new game mafia 3 and on the 4 k monitor the frame rates went str8 down to the upper 20s to 30s but on the 1080 p my frame rates went to playing frames in the 60s where it should be , mafia 3 is a highly graphical game eats up a lot of vram

If you can wait, Nvidia will issue series 20xx next year I think it is the best choice

just like they did with the pascal cards , there's reviewers say stay away from 4k for gaming like around 4-5 yrs I saved my gpus from litrally frying in the case,,,, the gpus in sli should be used for fps Iwent from a 4k to a lower resolution monitoir capable of 144 hz runs ALOT smoother ,quieter and cooler

you cannot SLI bridge more than 2 max 1080's otherwise many games will not start even

A two way 1070 will out perform a single 1080 for sure but the problem is not every game out there are coded for using the two way sli. Hence some game will ignore the second card on the sli and you will get the results of a single 1070. So going with a single 1080 is better choice.

And also speaking of cost two 1070 costs as much as a single 1080. So go for a single 1080 bro.
