have prime z270-a motherboard with iIntel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz, 4200 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) which fails the Windows 11 processor test.

Which intel processor should I go with ?

Second PC with Ryzen 7 3700 - the feature I like the most w/ this processor is that I can have multiple windows coping files simultaneously.

If I stay with the Prime motherboard, I have 32GB of DDR4 memory available.

Which Intel processor uses DDR4 RAM , works with the Prime mobo and would permit simultaneous file copies ?

Model
PRIME Z270-A

CPU
Intel® Socket 1151for 7th/6th Generation Core™ i7/Core™ i5/Core™ i3/Pentium®/Celeron® Processors,Supports Intel® 14nm CPU,Supports Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0,* The Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 support depends on the CPU types.,* Refer to www.asus.com for CPU support list
Chipset
Intel® Z270

As far as the Intel and the motherboard you will need a newer Intel platform at the very least be able to run an 8th Gen Intel CPU your current Z270 is for 6th/7th Gen and Windows 11 starts at 8th Gen.

Asus indicates that the prime z270a supports windows 11.
The compatible test only list the intel chip i7-7700 as an issue.

1. which intel chip would be a good replacement.

2. if replacing mb and chip, switch to ryzen. What is a good chip for the tuf gaming z790 board. I prefer the tuf boards.

I am not that knowledgeable on all the chips available so am hoping that one of you computer guys can point me in the right direction. The tuf x570 is around $200 is that a good upgrade, if so what chip less than $300 would be a good selection ?

I have 32gb ddr4 memory

What do you do with your system?

You could try unplugging all your drives and try installing windows 11 on a spare drive, while your board shows it has TPM im not sure if its TPM 2.0 that windows 11 wants. The highest CPU for that board would be the 7700K, i could not find anything that supports installing a Xeon on that board.

As for your secondary system, with a bios updated could run a 5700x3d or 5800x

If you want to keep using your DDR4 ram, you could look at the Asus Tuf Z690-plus wifi D4 which take DDR4 ram and a i7-13700K. Moving into Intel's Z790 or their Socket 1851 and AMD's AM5 socket would mean moving to DDR5 ram.

On a side note, if you really dont care about Windows 11 TPM 2.0 requirement you can get around it. You just have to google for it, it is easy to do it.
