I upgraded my friend's dell Inspiron 15 3573 from 4GB to 16GB of RAM. It has a single RAM slot, and I made sure it is also DDR4 SODIMM. Now, the PC won't turn on. It receives power as indicated by the white light at the front, but it does nothing when I press the power button. No fans or anything.

When the DVD drive is plugged in, it makes a quiet noise, but nothing else.

I saw the laptop has a max RAM support of 8GB, but others have installed 16GB without issue. I am using Corsair Vengeance SODIMM 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL22 Memory. Could the speed be the issue? Thanks in advance.

Could the speed be the issue?
normally no, the speed would default to a basic value until set in the BIOS.

this being an OEM laptop, it's possible that the BIOS has it's own manufacturer default value set for the original RAM and that does not allow the new stick to function which inhibits the system's ability to function.

you need to make sure memory modules are included in any QVL available for any motherboard, or in this case the laptop in general.

first though, try the old RAM module and make sure the system will still function as it should with the original stick.
if not, it's likely something has been damaged in the process.
