Question Upgrading a Ryzen to the best Ryzen available for emulation

Hiya guys, just looking for some advice.

Currently I have a Ryzen 3 1200 (lower tier Ryzen)
A huge part of PC gaming for me is emulation, and as projects for later consoles have come out I wanted to improve my CPU (my GPU is fine)
The thing is due to money constraints id like to get a higher Ryzen (yea I know Intels better)

Anyone who runs emulation with this type of CPU can you recommend which should be my go to choice for emulation and obviously general gaming and purpose aswell. Ta

I would reccomend a ryzen 5 2600 or ryzen 7 2700

Amd is releasing a bunch of faster processors in a couple of weeks.
Intel might not be faster after that.

I would not say Intel is better, as the Ryzen CPU's offer a much better value per performance. I would honestly wait untill AMD releases their new generation Ryzen CPU's. Even if you want the Ryzen 5 2600 or Ryzen 7 2700, once AMD releases the new gen CPU's, those older ones could drop in price.

The deciding factor here, after budget, is motherboard. If yours is a decent enough one, it will get a bios update, for faster Ryzen 3000 series CPU's, once they launch, next month.

As long as you don't have an A320 board, you should be able to theoretically support a 3rd gen CPU.
Just make sure you have updated to a bios with 3rd gen support.
