Upgrading E8400

Given the following components, does it make sense to upgrade my current E8400 to something faster? If so, what CPU would get me the most value?

i would slap on a good cpu cooler get a better board and crank that e8400 to 4ghz and hold out a month and upgrade grapics.power supply(maybe) and hold on till xmas and move to a new socket

Yeah OC CPU and GPU Upgrade.

That CPU can handle much better GPUs

The G'byte P35 motherboards are good to past 400 MHz. Keep the motherboard. Put the money you save toward a better video card.

I kind of felt a CPU upgrade might not make so much sense which is why I asked the question here. Now, what direction to go on graphics card? Again, I don't have to have the very best but do appreciate value. What's the best "bang for buck" video card out there currently? Thanks in advance for your help.

For a monitor with 1680X1050 native resolution 9800GTX is still plenty.

So I'd suggest you to stick to your current PC for a while.
