The E Beast: emachines et1331g-07w

What I need..

1. Want to add 2x 2gb memory sticks. Need to know wth is in it..all it says is kingston 2gb..and if I have to match that? Or can I go even cheaper.

2. A really cheap wifi card..bluetooth would be awesome but not needed.

3. I need to know if a better cpu is even possible..its a pretty clunky processor.. Amd athlon II x2 I think..like 1.6 ghz? Lol.. If I cant its no big deal. The power supply says 300w max 80+ bronze.

Is there any other parts I can upgrade wothout going TOO crazy? Or is this pretty much it? Its a friend of mines.

Any help is surely appreciated! Thanks ahead of time! Love these forums and ppl! 😀

He has a laptop but he wants this pc to work wherever he puts it. Nust need the parts..the pc is in really good shape.. And 4gb - 8gb should be like night and day. Im actually considering throwing win 10 on it for him.

It's going to be tough, this is pretty outdated it seems.

That said, doing a quick search just on the model number might help - hopefully something will tell you what motherboard it has without having to actually look at the machine and go searching for some numbers on it.

Still, I'm not sure it's worth sinking any money into it at all. Maybe if you stumble across some higher density RAM of the same type (ie: DDR2 I think from that era?)

If you can't find a wi-fi card for cheap, I know there are USB wifi adapters, though I don't know if they're particularly good or not.

I suspect talking your friend out of putting(wasting) any money into the thing is impossible.
Google the model online, see if there's a specs page, somewhere. Figure out the mobo model(that will help you find if there's possible cpu upgrades). Find out what ram speed and ddr speed it is(that will allow you to figure out if there's any available new, there's always some on the secondhand market). The mobo model number will give you info on what that board has for available pcie(pci?) slots. As for the wifi card, perhaps newegg is a good option, pcpartspicker could be of help too.
Replacing the PSU is a certainly a wise idea. Emachines were never known to use anything but the lowest priced parts possible. I'm sure that PSU is on it's last leg.
I'll re-iterate, your friend is best off saving his money, backing up his data, and shooting for a new machine in the 800$ range.

Will the ram i posted work as an addition? The pc already has 4 gb total. If I can just get 2x 2gb sticks to add from ebay.

of course man its gonna work.
if u get these parts and a decent gc u got a really heavy machine bro.

"As long as you know which socket the motherboard has you can upgrade to any cpu with that socket but I don't think that your motherboard is am3 so that leaves am2 or am2+

I searched newegg and there arnt any am2+ athlon x4's so heres another inexpensive quad that Im pretty sure would work "

quote from overclockers site--as u see theres no such limits to a mobo socket(u got am3 u can fit all am3 cpus and same for am2+)

its ok man i didnt see the mobo number up in the post.
i already answered ur question in that last comment.
hope i helped u.
