Hello!
I play games in 1440p and I've noticed that my RTX 3070 is starting to lag behind a little bit when it comes to some recent releases (mainly STALKER 2), so I'm looking to upgrade. Since I don't particularly care about ray tracing or AI upscaling I figure AMD is a better choice since it's cheaper, not much different in overall performance and I get more VRAM for my money. My understanding is that 8GB is going to be too little for 1440p in the not too distant future so I'd like to at least get something with at least 16GB.
Right now I'm torn between the 7800XT and the 7900XT but I'm not sure if the 7900XT is overkill for my needs or not. I don't do animation work or any GPU demanding editing. Would the 7800 be enough for my needs for the next few years or is the 7900 a better investment?
Either way I'll get a new PSU (currently on 650W).
