Hi there.

months ago my SSD died which had my windows 7 OS on there. I am deciding to upgrade to Windows 10.

I have bought a new SSD for the Win 10 OS.
I’m not sure how I can install Windows 10 without a current OS.

thank you.

The SSD for Windows 10 is new unused as my windows 7 drive died.

so when I install windows 10 I should only have the SSD plugged in? The SSD which will have windows 10?
Yes. That is actually more important than it would appear to be.
Have only ONE drive connected when you do this install.

Ok thank you.

There’s a lot of information there, but to confirm; I must remove all drives except for target, insert dvd, then install?

I’m unsure as to what ‘create instillation media’ does. If I have the dvd shouldn’t it take care of everything?

Correct. If you already have the DVD, use that.
You WILL, however, incur more updates, depending on how long ago that DVD was created.

A new USB created today will be 99% up to date.

Download the Microsoft tool and follow these steps

Launch the tool.
Review and Accept the Licence Terms. Declining the Licence Terms will exit the tool.
Choose what you want to keep. If you want to keep your personal files, choose the Keep personal files only option.
-or-
If you want to remove everything, choose the Nothing option.

Select the OK button to start the installation. The rest of the process will be automatic, but if you need to, you can postpone it until your PC reboots.
