Can someone please explain this to me I don't understand. I'm sure you guys all figured out, compare to you guys I don't know much about computers, I just like playing games.

Will I experiense the difference 64 bit does to farcry with a Nforce chipset?

I found info on google but this part I don't understand it:

"or even why a video card chipset manufacturer would be entering the AMD-based motherboard market in the first place."

I'll tell you what check this link out get your friend to see it as well and help you configure it. You don't have to buy anything you don't need and you can use your 9700 pro and soundcard.

If you and your friend are still having trouble I'd sujest you go to futureshop or costco or whatever and buy a complete system or take your old system to a computershop and have them update it for you.

If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.

yeah seriously. He should take a look at your link. Pick no sound card, downgrade to the cheapest R9200se and save a bundle, and have your friend help you install your R9700 pro and sound card in the new machine. I didn't check prices, but being as I am from the US, I can't compare directly to your pricing anyway.

you can get it with no video or os... even in the drop down menu. no hard drive or get an 80 gig. very customizable they have a store near me but they will ship anywhere in canada. I have bought off them directly but never had it shipped.

Yeah, Even better yet assuming that the Windows install goes well. 😉

I know we all might differ on opinions on what is best, but who here doen't want to see this guy up and gaming on a new rig soon. Hopefully quickly and painlessly.

I installed my graphic card, sound card, nic, router, memory, drivers before and everything works.

How hard is it to install a cpu, and a motherboard? It come with instructions right? I know how to fallow instructions. I want to do it myself.

I know static can damage my cards so I touch the frame of my case to discharge static from my body.

I take back my earlier suggestions. I would advice you to buy either an Xbox or PS2, or both.

That's why I said not to take offense. If you really want to build it yourself, go for it. Each build gets easier and easier as you learn. Just be prepared to have frustrations. You might not be up and gaming in one night, or maybe not even one week. Or you may have no problems at all. But it's fun, so if it is worth the risk to ya, enjoy it and build one. I'd say deal with repuatable sites that will take returns/exchanges in case the purchase goes wrong.

I sent a message to support from greytech.com. I told them I wanted this kind of memory:

1 or 2x 512 MB Mushkin PC3500 Level2 or OCZ PC3500 Platinum L (~$90) each

Then in there replie they said they have this:

OCZ OCZ400512ELPE 512mb 400Mhz $205

What is this? It's not the same right?

I looked a newegg and don't see platinum Ls or Level 2s

Can someone help me find a place where I can order the AOpen AK86-L? They don't sell it in Canada so I have to order it from the US.

P4 man why is it a bad idea to wait for a nforce chipset? Or does anybody else know why it's a bad idea?

Will I need to change my memory I was going to buy if I change to a mobo with a nforce chipset?

Total price Canaidian funds $1218.00 does not include shipping or taxes.

I have included a new harddrive cause your old one is a little small and probably slower. You can use your old hard drive for additional storage.

I did not include a case cause you heart set on a nice one that should work fine with this system.

I did not include win xp cause you might or might not need it. If you do I'd suggest getting xp-oem at this site as well. its cheaper then buying it off the shelf. You might not be able to activate your old win-xp (product activation).

I have included 2 x 512 Mb = 1 gig of good Ram. More than enough for a long time to come. This mem is out of stock but if you call and ask they can tell you if its a week or so to wait.

Your 9700pro and great sound card floppy cd/Rom will work good in this system.

P4-man would approve of this system so buy it get your friend to help you put it together.
