Hey all, this gets a bit confusing.

I just finished a new PC build and I used the uphere 120mm RGB fans that come with a controller unit. When I first powered the system up these fans were running through an RGB cycle of all colors. For no reason that I'm aware of, they suddenly changed to blue. I'm using a ROG Crosshair Vii hero (wifi) mobo and have plugged the fan controller into one of the 3-pin aurora headers (since its not compatible with the 4-pin addressable ones) yet the aurora software will not detect these fans. Interestingly enough there are some inputs in the aurora software that I dont quite understand. There are a total of 4 rgb strips to choose from yet there are no rgb strips plugged into any aurora headers (two are called RGB strip and the other two are called ADD strip) every attempt to change the color of these non-existent rgb strips does nothing. I have the NZXT 500i case, it does have two rgb strips in it but they connect to the NZXT controller which connects to a usb header controlled by CAM not aurora. The fans did not come with a remote like they were supposed to so no luck there. Anyone have an issue similar to this? Since aurora and cam both do not detect the fans is it possible to control the color of these fans in any way or is this just an aurora software issue? Maybe I could plug the fans into a different header (maybe usb so CAM sees it) via an adapter cable? I have tried everything i can think of and also have no idea if uphere has a support number or not, couldnt find one. Ive contacted the amazon seller so maybe they will help.

Idk what to tell you but there definetly are 3-pin adressable headers on the crosshair vii hero (wifi) board, two in fact. The fans are all 3-pin rgb as well. So if i did get a splitter for a 3-pin header would i still be in the same situation where i cant control the leds?

Really annoying how on both the product description AND the included (awful) instructions it says its compatible with aura sync when it clearly isnt. Will probably return these.

Haha i did warn you, so here are how the connections went: The fans 3-pin power and rgb connections go into the controller block. The controller has two output connections. The rgb connection goes to the 3-pin addressable header and the "cpu fan" connection I plugged into the...

It takes a lot to confuse me. But Im not sure what you actually plugged into what...

A) There is no 3 pin Aura header on your mobo. There is a 4 pin RGB header. Not sure what you have plugged into.

B) You have plugged the rgb cables from fans into the controller? Then you connected the controller to a USB port? RIght, or?
The pwr cables from the fans you plugged into the fan headers on the mobo I assume?
If this is what you did then Asus Aura wont control the rgb led on the fans. And it wont detect them either. You need a separate software from the maker of the controller to do so.

If you plugged the rgb cables via a splitter into the rgb header on the mobo, then Asus Aura should be able to see and control them.

Haha i did warn you, so here are how the connections went: The fans 3-pin power and rgb connections go into the controller block. The controller has two output connections. The rgb connection goes to the 3-pin addressable header and the "cpu fan" connection I plugged into the OPT_CPU fan header because my AIO cooler is in the main CPU_FAN header. it looks like i connected everything right i just dont get why arora cant see it

edit: so after checking my mobo manual aurora cant see 3-pin adressable rgb connections, is there any other way to change the rgb colors from the 3-pin header if there is no sofrware or remote? There has to be, the fans changed from rainbow to blue somehow so im baffled

Aura cant see anything unless its connected to the 4 pin rgb header on the mobo. Directly.
Unplug the rgb cables from the fans. Get a splitter and connect them all to the rgb header on the mobo.

What do you mean by "3-pin addressable header" ? There are no 3 pin rgb headers on this mobo.

Aah, you mean the 4-1 header. Didnt catch that. My bad. Anyway, to make it work with Asus Aura you need to connect to the 4 pin rgb headers. There is no way around that.

But from what I could google, the rgb connectors from the fans should be 4 pin? If so, you just need a splitter and then connect them to the 4 pin rgb header on the mobo.

If they are only 3 pin. One pin covered. Then you wont be able to use Asus Aura to control them.

No there isnt? Mobo layout below

Sadly I just opened her up and checked, it depends on the model of fans and while I ordered the right model they decided to send me the old ones so they are all 3 pin, looks like an RMA situation

With your RGB fans, there should have been a controller with 7 ports to connect fan power and RGB 3-pin power. Also, coming out of this controller should have been another 2 wires. One runs to the fan port on your motherboard, and the other should run to your 3-pin connector. If your motherboard doesn't have the 3 pin connector, they included another way to operate it. There is one more wire that has a momentary switch that plugs into the "RESET" port on that controller. You can either run that wire out of the case and press that switch to change colors, or you can unhook your reset button for your case from the pins on the board and plug it into the controller. I know this works. Have done this on 3 seperate systems.

Sorry to revive an old thread, just clarifying the correct answer if someone stumbles on this for answers.

I found this on the amazon descripyion after having there for a few months and not getting the to work with my MB software. Not in the instructions with the fans...

Tips:
1.When you removed or installation the case fan it must be complete disconnected the power.
2.To sync up with your ARGB software, You had to press and HOLD the reset button at least 3 seconds once all the cables are connected.
