I have an old HP Probook in which the connector for the main hard drive ripped off the board. It is beyond my skill to repair and solder and as the laptop was free I can not complain. The laptop has 4 USB 3.0 ports but sadly none are esata. I am looking to turn this into a little server type pc and was wondering if its better to buy an external USB 3.0 hard drive caddy and boot off that or to buy a caddy to add a hard drive to the optical bay.? Form facotr/slimness does not matter as this will not be transported around. Thank you
