Hi guys.

Here is my question that I can't seem to get an answer for..

If I purchase the 2-Port USB 3.1 (10Gbps) Card - 2x USB-A - PCIe from StarTech, then I purchase the USB 3.1 Gen 2 Adapter Cable, by Startech.com I should be able to put that card into any motherboard that has a PCIe slot and it will work as long as the motherboard accepts the drivers right?

If the answer is yes, then why is ASrock, ASUS and other motherboard suppliers claiming that you have to use certain motherboards for 3.1 gen 2 to work?

Solution
The PCIE add in cards for USB 3.1 work fine. The motherboard vendors are not claiming you cant add a PCIE card to get USB 3.1, they are just marketing they have USB 3.1 built in so no add on card is needed. As you can see with the add in card and usb cable you are around $50 extra and you have to use up at least a PCIE x4 slot on the motherboard.
