Question USB HUB issues... please help me

HP Pavilion 15 eco0515na (2020) AMD Ryzen 5 3550H with windows10 19045.5247

it has 2 USB ports and one 3.1 USB-C

to get it out the way... things i have already done and tried to fix this ridiculous issue!

-updating everything from windows to every driver including AMD chipset drivers and a BIOS update

-uninstalling root usb hub

-different ports or combinations i have gone through 4 different hubs now 3 USB-C and now one USB-C

-mouse and keyboard work separately of the USB hubs and are nothing fancy just basic low powered devices

-disabled selective suspend and battery saving

-turned off allow this device to be turned off to save power in device manager for root hubs

NOW to the problem... any USB hub i tried behaved the same way with one thing plugged in it works perfectly but if i plug in let's say the mouse and the keyboard together then the mouse in this example will be normal like you'd expect BUT the keyboard will work for about a second just typing away then it repeats a random letter i pressed last infinitely wich only stops after unplugging it if i for example plug in the keyboard first and then the mouse the mouse breaks... it skips and looks to be operating at a lower DPI

this is frankly ridiculous i know a self powered USB hub can get overwhelmed but not from a simple cheapo keyboard and mouse...

please help me out I'm happy to answer any questions!!!

Make and model: keyboard and mouse?

Drivers: source(s) ?

How were the drivers installed - directly by you or by some installer or other driver tool?

Do they (with or without any of the USB hubs) work without problems when connected to another computer?

Do other keyboards and mice work on the computer - again with or without USB hubs?

The immediate objective is to narrow down the possibilities either directly or by elimination.

You did not mention the laptop reporting any problems or errors via pop-up windows etc.. Nothing there - correct?

Look in Reliabiilty History/Monitor. Any error codes, warnings, or informational entries regarding USB, mice, and/or keyboard?

There are other places to look as well if that becomes necessary.

from HP/AMD website directly the HP drivers where hard to find and a few of them claimed to be incompatible with my windows version from what i saw everything important got installed

do not have another device to test but the USB mouse and keyboard work flawlessly as for the 4 other USB hubs i think they worked fine?! but just not with my laptop...

no errors or anything poped up as war as the laptop was aware it should’ve worked fine since it did detect both just they didn’t work quite right together in the USB hub...

absolutely NOTHING in the history about any sort of errors!!!

i will try anything you suggest i try i just want this to work i spend a lot of money and time on this issue already🙁

Does it make any difference if all power management settings are disabled? Not as a long term solution - just simply as means to eliminate the possibilities.

And, to be sure that I understand, the keyboard and mouse work together with everything else (including USB hubs) except for the laptop - correct?

My immediate thought is that the laptop simply does not have the correct drivers installed. If there even is a "correct" driver or drivers.....

On the laptop open Device Manager and make note of the drivers installed for both keyboard and mouse.

Then do the same for other computers, hubs, etc. where the keyboard and mouse did/do work.

You will need select the keyboard and mouse from the device lists and then, once selected, look at all of the window tabs related to the keyboard and mouse. Listed: General, Driver, Details, Events, Power Management.

Some of the tabs include a scroll window that, if full, you may need to scroll through to view other details and related events.

The objective being to find some specific difference(s) between installations where the keyboard, mouse, and hub work and where they do not work.

Details matter.
