I have a USB keyboard and mouse. I have updated all my mobo with correct drivers and drivers for my keyboard and mouse. I have Windows 8. But recently, mouse and keyboard have started to randomly stop working. Usually mouse will randomly disconnect and reconnect and the windows sound will notify me. If I move my mouse up and put back down fast, it will usually make the noise. Then, my mouse cursor will just sit there and my keyboard won't type anything. The mouse and keyboard will still be lit up. They both stop working at the same time. So I place them into a different USB port until they stop working again. I do this until I run out of ports to put them in. The USB ports that stopped working won't work again until I restart my computer. I have unchecked the option to turn off my mouse, keyboard, and all USB ports to save power. I used Microsoft troubleshooter to try and fix it too.

This is my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2u8uB

I have a similar problem but only with my new Logitech K120 Keyboard, which randomly skips, "disconnects" as the windows sound will notify me, and generally is a piece of crap I regret buying.

Then I went out ans got a cheaper keyboard by "onn" and while the way the keys are will take some getting used to, it's far superior to the crappy Logitech keyboard in terms of performance, out of the box no problems at all. I'll never buy anything from Logitech ever again.
