USB Keyboard works but no other usb devices

I have a usb wireless adapter, usb mouse and usb keyboard.. They were all working fine this morning but when i came back the wireless adapter and mouse stopped working, the mouse still gets power but doesn't move at all, i tried reinstalling drivers for both but no luck. I also can't find the devices in device manager.
I'm using windows XP home with sp2.
Also i have tried plugging in a flash drive which worked previously but now is not recognized.

Have you tried doing a System Restore to an earlier date yet?

We had a similar problem on a work machine. worked with any 1 USB periphal but no more. turned out the motherboard had died.

Try booting with mouse and no KB and try adding after windows has booted.

Ok i've tried both of those, still no go. How do i find out if the motherboard has died or not, and if the ports are just bad now would a pci usb card work?
