Hello. I recently got a USB microphone (Dynex DX-USBMIC13) but whenever I try to use it, it doesn't pick up any sound. All that it outputs is faint static.

I have tried setting it as my default device in the Windows control panel, trying to update my driver, uninstalling my Realtek audio drivers, and plugging the microphone into multiple computers. The microphone still doesn't produce noise.

Are there any ways for me to make the microphone pick up sound? Also, is the microphone physically broken or is it a software issue?

Solution
if you have steam client and open mic test you should see a bar move when you speak , if no steam go back to sound settings and their is a mic tab with a test option
2 things to try.

1. do you use steam client in games , if you do look for a game where you can use a microphone , open the tab and you will see a test microphone.

2. type sound into you search box and look if windows actually has the microphone setting turned on. Windows regularly changes the layout of it sound tabs and sometimes things get turned off during changes.

How do I find out if the microphone setting is turned on? I'm using Windows 10 as my operating system.
