Update: Something as simple as a systemrecovery was the solution. I still don't know what caused it, but for now it works!
Dear community,
A few days ago, I got home and booted up my desktop as usual. But this time I realized that none of my USB-ports were working! That is: Neither my mouse nor keyboard would respond once the computer had booted.
I have tried out the mouse and keyboard on my laptop, where they both work perfectly fine.
My mouse and keyboard BOTH work in BIOS (that is, USB works in BIOS apparently).
This morning I got hold of an old PS2 keyboard and mouse. These are working, so now I can get into windows. In the device manager, it seems like my USB drivers are messed up (a lot of USB-devices seem to be placed under 'unknown devices' or something like that).
I really hope that you guys can help me, since I have no idea as to how to fix this.
I am running windows 8.1.
I have tried to remove the devices in the device manager and make the device manager find them again - no improvement.
I have asked windows to look for drivers, but no drivers are available.
