Usb Ports not working

Hi. I booted my computer a couple days ago and my keyboard didn't work. The keyboard is fine, it functions well when connected to my laptop.

I have tried plugging the keyboard into all USB ports. I tried using the front panel USB ports. I tried connecting an extra USB hub.

I have reset the CMOS with the button on the mobo and also by removing the battery. Nothing changed.

My best guess is that whatever makes the USB ports work is toast. And being that I can't get into my computer there's no way to uninstall, reinstall, update the drivers or repair them from inside the OS.

Is there any way to make them work again? Mean looks, cussing at it, I'm willing to try anything.

Is your USB enabled in the BIOS?

If you have another computer on the same network, you could try Remote Desktoping into it and uninstall/reinstall drivers if nikorr's recommendation is correct.
oh,,,i just remembered something ....sometimes Windows gets locked keyboard and you can press Ctrl t n l ie. keep the Ctrl key pressed, then press t and letgo, then press the n key and let go and then the l key

Ctrl c s d was the other unlock key combination.

Try the Ctrl t n l sequence first.

USB was enabled in the BIOS. I didn't enter the BIOS and change anything before it quit working.

After I reset the CMOS, when I power on my computer the boot screen comes up, there's a message that checksum values have changed, and I have the choice to press F1 to continue or delete to enter setup. However since my keyboard/USB ports aren't working, pressing F1 or delete does nothing.

I did consider remoting in, but I have that disabled.

What about another USB device, are they working? Like USB pen drive...

When I plug a USB flash drive in, the light on the flash drive lights up for a second and then shuts off. Normally, the light stays on when transferring files to and from.

Did u use the vacuum cleaner to clean the back of the PC?

Didn't use a vacuum.

Both of my keyboards are USB. Would I need to have the drivers for a PS2 keyboard already installed? I'd go buy one.

No, not for PS2. U can get one for few bucks.

Vacuuming the ports may shock with static electricity and kill audio and ethernet and USB ports, that is why I asked.

I made the connection about the vacuum and static electricity. You're thinking of everything.

I'll go buy a PS2 keyboard when the stores open. I thought PS2s needed drivers already installed. I must have misread that. I'm excited for something to try other than just looking at the boot screen.

Solid. I'm in. Bought a USB keyboard with a PS/2 adapter (the only pseudo PS/2 keyboard in town). Just fired it up and am able to navigate and select items in the BIOS. So, now to check the BIOS settings and then see what the device manager says about my USB ports.

What you should have done to get the keyboard to work is to plug in the keyboard then go to Device manager delete any device with a yellow pling against it, remove the keyboard and then refit it.

You don't need the keyboard to do this only the mouse.

That's true with the Ease Of Access option selected, but you did not state that.
I am curious now to see if his mouse was working or not.

There was no USB functionality. I have 2 USB keyboards, one wireless and one wired. I have 2 wireless mice. The BIOS and windows did not recognize them or recognize that they were plugged in. There were no yellow triangles in the device manager (even after scanning for new hardware). The only device that I could use was the PS/2 keyboard.

I replaced the motherboard, all keyboards and mice work with the new board.
