Hi everyone,

I own a Yoga C640 which only have one storage slot, that is an M.2 NVMe slot which currently houses the only storage and the boot drive of the laptop.

If I were to connect the external GPU using this slot, how should I connect the boot drive of the laptop? Through an external drive? Is there any disadvantages of booting from the external drive?

I was looking through the internet for an adaptor of an M.2 to multiple M.2 splitter but I could not find anything. is there no such thing as an M.2 splitter?

Here is the link for an internal view of my laptop: Inside Lenovo Yoga C640 (13) – disassembly and upgrade options (laptopmedia.com)

If you take away the drive in the slot, then you won't have anyway to boot the system. Windows does not work will without a bunch of hacks to boot from an external drive and it will be much slower to run.

If you want a laptop with a faster video card, sell yours and get one with a card built in.

If you have thunderbolt on the laptop you should be able to use a thunderbolt video dock, but by the time you buy that and a video card you may as well just replace the laptop for the same or cheaper cost.
