I have a laptop with a 500GB hard drive and a version of Windows 7. I know the windows can not be used as it's linked to my motherboard but is there a way I can use this hard drive in my new PC??

Will I have to wipe windows? If so how? Can I just put my new windows over it when booting from USB??

That's not always true. I gave my buddy an old laptop HDD with the intention of just installing a new copy of windows on it, but when we put it in his new computer it just booted right up without a problem. It went from a Dell Inspiron laptop to his Gigabyte Motherboard and just worked right away.

You can use it in a new pc I'm pretty sure. I have tried this a couple times didn't have an issue.
