Using power instead of reset, tripped computer :/

Hi,

I've got a fairly new pc (about 6 weeks old), which yesterday froze 2 or 3 times ... I think because it was struggling with Morrowind plus a number of other different apps I had running at the same time.

Anyway, stupidly I kept pressing the power button instead of reset (hadn't even occurred to me to notice where the reset button was) which didn't achieve anything, except that when I switched the power off and on again at the wall, my computer tried starting itself/ powering up 3 or 4 times in quick succession ... that is, switching itself on & then off again (apparently) several times over. At first I thought maybe the PSU had gone but after leaving it 5 mins and switching everything on again it seemed to be okay.

Anyway a couple of questions about this please:

(1) What was actually happening? I'm guessing, the power button sent a succession of 'start' signals to the MB, causing my pc to trip itself up?

(2) Could this have conceivably damaged it in any way? I run a BurnIn Test on it last night which it passed without any problems, but I'm kinda concerned in case I might have done some damage somewhere?

Also (2b) I suppose... if the answer to the above is "yes", are there any other tests/ benchmarks I should run to verify everything's okay?

Anyway thanks for any replies; motherboard & CPU specs are pasted below.

Uhh, okay thanks... I guess I was just feeling paranoid (and slightly annoyed with myself for mindlessly pressing the power button over & over instead of finding reset :/)

Anyway thanks for the speedy reply. :)
