When trying to capture a 3 hour VHS Video to my PC it used almost 13gb of memory. Can anyone explain this happens and can I reduce memory use to a moe reasonable level to the level which dvd romally requiren

Yes, video capture takes a lot of storage space until you encode it. You want to probably use MPEG2 and 480i, or 480P resolution. The original VHS resolution is 240i, but that video file would be nearly worthless. You should be ale to get that down to 2-3 GB with those settings.
