I have tried to download from the download centre Direct x 9, and havehad
the message,validation failed incorrect key gen number.
Please can anyone tell me how to rectify this.

Do you have a legitimate product key for Windows XP?

Open IE. Tools/Internet Options/Programs, click on the Manage Add Ons and
disable Windows Genuine Advantage. Close IE. Reopen it and go back to
Windows Update. Download to your heart's content. Ignore the bubble that
comes up with an icon at the bottom of IE. Do it now cause next Tuesday's
Update day and MS may change things.
