I think they are just going to make a half life 3 instead and thats why its taking so long.Ive been saying this since I finished playing episode 2 back when it came out.

Just the phrase ". . . we. . . don't go to ravenholm anymore." leaves me creeped out - that was one seriously creepy level. I still haven't finished EP2, got lost and a little creeped out by the bug tunnels sequence. Maybe I just creep out too easily . . . . . LOL!

[citation][nom]sliem[/nom]Leave scary fps to F.E.A.R...[/citation]That game scared the crap outta me too. But, like someone else said, it wasn't scary at all, the second time through.

[citation][nom]mattfoo2324[/nom]For a game we know absolutely nothing about, I know it will be awesome. Need proof? Evidence: L4D, L4D2, HL, HL 2, HL E1, HL E2, TF 2, CS, CSS, Portal, to be released Portal 2, etc. Valve is virtually unblemished in the developer field. How could it not be good?[/citation]

I hated TF2 (no grenades, pretty yes, but stripped almost all the great gameplay out, while adding a few neat things). L4D, while kinda cool, got boring really quickly and from what I hear, L4D2 wasn't that great either.

Still, I'm mostly in agreement with you. Valve, even when I don't like their games, is always trying to innovate. Not to mention, they are probably the most gamer-friendly (and PC friendly) company around these days.

Left 4 Dead (and part 2) are far from boring if you play online with others. Playing SP is like playing counterstrike by yourself though 😉 Alas, now that BC2 is out I have forsaken all others.

Can't wait for some EP3 or HL3, Valve has never let me down. I'm hoping for something that stresses my 5870.

HL2 is still the best straight forward FPS ever. Not to be confused with a RPG/FPS like Fallout 3 that is my favorite of all. Can't wait for this and I will be buying it when it releases.

[citation][nom]gm0n3y[/nom]I would also love to try out BC2, but its made by EA and I really, really want to avoid giving them any of my money, ever.[/citation]

Resistance is futile on this one...

[citation][nom]husker[/nom]They need to look at System Shock 2 for ideas. That has to be the scariest of all time.[/citation]

On that note, we need a System Shock 3! And a real sequel, not some knock off branding with similar name.

Also, I want HL2:Episode 3!

I hope it does not end up sucking like Unreal Tournament 3. These games build such a big audience, and then their next iteration never gets to create such a cult following as the original ones. I like UT3, but I don't see that many people online as when I played UT2004, on the PC version of course.

Another comment is that, single player games like Half-life should make more releases more often with the same graphics technology. I would like to see something that resembles a Series where you get 13 releases of 1 to 2 hours of play. They would release one episode a week or ever other week. Some of the gameplay would be repeated, like car scenes, puzzles, zombies, fight with the animal etc. But the plot would change so that the objectives change a little. That would be fun for us, and it would create more revenue for Valve... everybody Wins. They would only need to get more writers and artist, but hardly any extra software-writers and engineers.

It's hard for me to find very good PC-games, so it is a shame that the proven successful formulas are not repeated more often. In the mean time, I guess I'll give Mass Effect 2 at try.

People said the same thing about HL2 "when is it coming out?" "Its vaporware" and then it came out and blew people away. So even if it takes Valve another 2,3,4 years it'll be awesome when it comes out. I believe and trust in Valve, they haven't let me down yet.

Asking if Half Life is a scary game is like asking if the 1931 Dracula is a scary movie. Not by today's standards, but at the time...
