Very old computer working?

You're eyes getting pelted with gamma rays? From what I recall, that doesn't hurt you, you just turn into the Hulk! Its even in the theme song, "...pelted by gamma rays, turns into the hulk...".

I guess the problem withall of this conjecture is that for any object travelling at lightspeed, time is pretty much stopped. Think about the old, "if we travelled super fast to a planet and back in a period of a couple of years, everybody we knew when we left would be dead by the time we got back (old age, not gamma rays). I think at lightspeed time is supposed to stop and mass approaches infinity? I guess if you were all hulked out that would be ok.

No, the question was not at light speed, but at 2x light speed which is of course faster then regular light speed. As far as an object traveling 2x faster then light speed, I HAVE NO IDEA.

Ok someone start with a question reguarding REAL physics.

I am going to throw out my "expert" opinion and say that time is a constant and does not slow down, nor speed up, nor appear to do either, for an object, no matter how fast that object is travelling.

I have never agreed with that arguement that time flows unevenly when traveling at high speeds. I understand the tests that have been done but Its very hard to comprehend as fact.

For instince, our closest star is 4.3 lightyears away. If I travel there and back in 8 years and 8 months, why would I arive 100's of years later? Its all perceieved time differences in my oppinion.

Well, when we still were learning Newtonian physics, then yes, time was a constant; but relativity, quantum physics and string theory (and likely all other scientifically credible theories) say otherwise.

Shawnpaul, I do disagree with your expert opinion about time apearing to change.

We can easily show this would be the case.
here it goes:

I am sitting in an area of space where light travels at only 1/1000 of C AND is decreasing in speed constantly at a rate of 1/100 of C per second. I would see "time" slow down as a percieved effect only, but also, the image would become redshifted.

I have it on book and book on tape. If you want a book on time, the book I have enjoyed the most is called "Einstein's Dreams". Its not by him, but its a look into many forms and Ideas of Time.
