Viewsonic PF790

Does anyone have first hand experience with the Viewsonci PF790 19" monitor? I've ordered a new computer and chose this monitor, thinking it would have a good quality picture, based on other Viewsonic monitors I've used. However, I'm looking around the net for reviews and saw one person really slam it for text quality. Does anyone else have an opnion on this, and perhaps suggestions for other monitors in this class which might be a better choice? Thanks.

I own that exact monitor and I can say nothing bad about it. Real crisp color and brigtness. The only thing that bothers me is when you turn it on, the horizontal sides of the screen have to have warm up time to stretch to fit the size you set it at. There tech support is good an it is there 24/7 and no bullcrap wait time. All in all I think it is a real good monitor.

Could you be more specific on the PF815?

I just got delivery of my PF815. It is classed as a 22" with actual viewing area of 20". Picture is sharp and colour great. CRT is perfectflat technology.
The price of this baby is just over $1300.00 CDN.

I'll let you know in the next few days my impressions on everyday use.

Since I've gone through the trouble of finding the answer to my own question I thought I'd share with everyone. The main concern I had about the PF790 is that I'd read reviews saying the text became blurry at 1280X1024 and was basically unreadable at 1600X1200. Well, I went to Best Buy and checked things out for myself. The sad truth is, the text does become fuzzy at the edges of the screen in the higher resolutions. I wouldn't say unreadable, but it looks like someone rubbed Vasoline on the glass. Not the kind of performance I'd expect from that class of monitor. I'd reccomend the NEC FE950 over the Viewsonic. I looked at this one in CompUSA and was pretty impressed with the quality.

As for me, I've decided to just spend the money for a really good monitor. I just ordered a <A HREF="http://www.necmitsubishi.com/products/home/product.cfm?productid=106&cfid=671399&cftoken=475140" target="_new">Mitsubishi 2040u NF</A>. Since this is their top of the line monitor I hope I won't be disappointed. Thanks to all who replied.

I have mine running (PF790) at 1280x1024 and the text seems fine to me. But at 1600x1200 your right the text is blurry and puts a hurtin on the eyes. Maybe some new drivers will fix it. Oh well it's still a good monitor tho.

Try to change the refresh rate.
My PF795, when the refresh rate is 75, the text clearness is the best than others.

My refresh rate is at 75 when at 1600x1200 but it still is blurry.

Just half month ago, I change my 128ZX to 3dlabs VX1.
In 1600X1200, VX1 is better, but 128ZX is also acceptable.
So, may be you should try another vedio card, especially ATI or G400 series.
