Hello MickeyMic! welcome to the forums

I dont have alot of experiance with vista 64, but it was the reason i went back to xp...
1. when your plugging in storage devices, you have to let windows sit there and wait for it to respond. I dont know why it freezes up like that but when it did that to me, i waited a few minuites and it recognized my portable HD and worked.
2. cant help you with the sd card prob though because i just plugged my cell phone into my comp and used it's software to get my pictures off it.
3. windows dvd maker in vista 64 is AWFUL. it just flatout never worked for me. whenever i had to burn an ISO image, i use IMGburn, which is completely free and works like a charm :)

wish i could be of more help

USB problem are sometime caused by a weak or failing powersupply. ECS board loves good PSU.

Maybe the movies you download have drm that pevent copying. What kind of movie you are trying to burn?

hello pat
thanks so much for your response
i cant believe i have people trying to help me already...its awesome

so in response to your idea maybe you know if my 550 watt power supply is to small its an antec modular and its only about two months old
do you think i should go with an 750 watt or something larger

the files im attempting to burn are mostly ISO files
ive always used windows dvd maker in the past but since i went with 64bit vista it seems to be failing me
are there some updated drivers im not getting...my auto updater is turned on...
any ideas would be seriously helpful
thanks again for all your help

im really likin it, but it does have its ups and downs. Its not to as compatible with my xp32 but with it i added an extra two gigs to it. i mainly use that one for gaming pretty much and dual boot. BUT, if your gonna use it for everyday use, im not sure you would like it. do you have any particular use for the 64bit extension? because if not, youd be great off with vista32 or xp32.

well, thats what we're all here for! glad you came to tomshardware, someones always on to help another person! when i was new to the forums, i got replys within the hour... :)

Your PSU is sufficient. If you have assembled your computer yourself, I would double check for grounding issue. I've owned and worked with many ECS board, and while not being the fastest or the most overclockable, they were fully stable and problem free. Testing it outside the case would be an option to check for grounding issue.

For burning ISO files, as well as other files (except audio cd), I recommend gdrp. You will have a less than 1 meg application that burn files like all the other. Or you can try CDburnerXP or infra recorder.. both are free... But I did not test them with Vista 64.
