vista and xp network

Hi, I am new here. Can someone help me. I have 2 computer. On one is win Vista and on other is win XP. Ho i can make that they see each other in network. I connected them whit cable, but tho no rest??? Help plz.

what kind of network do you have? Do you have a router/switch connecting your main PC to the internet?

If you are kooking the two PCs directly from nic card to nic card you will need a crossover cable instead of a standard network cable.

I have dsl router on vista computer, and second computer have network card. now. XP computer can go on internet with no problems, but how i can make them see each other???

ok, so you have connectivity, simplest thing is probably go to the XP machine and attempt to 'share' a folder, just right click on a folder and hit 'share' - that should prompt you through the network setup dialog IIRC, make both PCs part of the same workgroup

you might also need to turn on 'network file sharing and discovery' in Vista, just click on the network icon in tray.
