It is a server.. it's loading and storing more information into memory, checking stability, checking all the records.
Yes, it will take longer to load because it's not designed to be shut down that often. Even when you attempt to shut Win2k3 down, it prompts you for a reason, then you confirm it.
Now, Wusy is using the Server as a personal computer instead of a server for the most part. It will work, but I'm going to go as far as saying he doesn't shut his computer down that often.
On top of that, it's a solid platform, by far the best released by Microsoft to date.
It just depends on what you're using it for, a server or a personal computer. If it's PC use, then yeah, there are drawbacks to it.
Then the hardware requirements will also factor in. I've had Win2k3 running on a 500MHz Compaq workstation with 512MB ECC Ram, 18.x GB SCSI drive. It takes about 2-3 minutes to boot up. 10 minutes means whoever built the computer probably didn't use the right hardware, or the hardware isn't designed to support a server. You can install it on a PC and it should run fine, but it's designed to run off server software.
Actually, you might want to read over the article published today on Tom's. At least it's not another stupid gaming article. But even then, the article doesn't cover anything really worthwhile outside of common knowledge - it might be beneficial for the general population than myself. But I spend a lot of time working with Win2k and 2k3 server.
