Recenty received an athlon64 3200 cpu from pcboost.com. Stuck to the top of cpu was sticker "warrenty void if removed". Sticker prevented heatsink from properly contacting cpu heat spreader. (I have a jpeg, but can't attach). 3 emails to pcboost and still no reply. Sticker must come off, of course, thus voiding cpu warrenty. I've concluded the folks at pcboost.com are either very mean or very stupid. Has anyone else experienced this? I have never seen any kind of label/sticker on the top of any cpu.

I would say that they are implying that once used, it is void, but should be warrantied by Intel.

Sapphire Radeon 9700 128MB @ 360/310

I had Intel on the brain, with a "worthless" Soyo mobo at that.

I've never heard of that before and that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of a company doing. Take that thing off and use ur proc!
There is always a manufacturer warranty on it if the place you bought it from won't honor the warranty bec their cpu killing sticker isn't on it.

it's referring to the heat spreader on-top of the core (the metal plate). Not the actual sticker its self.

Lol

Retail boxed CPU's have a 3 year manufacturer warranty, OEM CPU's have NO warranty. The vender can offer their own warranty, but it's only as good as the word of the vender, warranty claims are at the vender's discretion.

I thought that Intel OEM CPUs had 30-days.
Does AMD still VOID if you install a non-stock HSF?

I also got my processor with a sticker which said warrenty will be void if I take it off. I figured the CPU wasn't going to crap out on me so I took it off. Of course, later I also lapped the heat spreader and then took it off entirely, and that sure as hell would have voided any warrenty, manufacturer's and vendor's.

I think that 30-days is just what several dealers were offering in included protection. Intel probably warranties the OEM CPU to the OEM only (ie, the original purchaser).

I've seen AMD OEM CPU's with as little as 15 days warranty. None from the factory, only the dealer warranty.

That void sticker is used only on the rejected processors by manufacturer, to be sure those get discarded and not used.
