Im building a new system it'll be the first one I've built useing a water cooling System, I could use some suggestions as far as what parts would work best with the rig I have planned.

Im useing a Silverstone Raven RV01 Case. and the following hardware (excludeing the Hard Drives.

EVGA P55 FTW SLI 132-LF-E657-KR LGA1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model AT80601002727AA

EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Im considering a radiator system since the design of the case has built in bracketing for a radiator. I'm just looking for brand suggestions and tips for setting the system up.

Water Cooling is the best way to go, expensive and time consuming, but second to none in keeping those pesky "C"s down.

Here's a few links to get you started on your research.

Water cooling requires a lot of work and patience, plus you may want to make a sketch of how many components you want to water cool. Every component that makes up a PC can be water cooled.

Here's a brief description of how it works.

There are also a number of smaller and easier to install kits available too...

Best of luck and I hope this helps.

@OP: WHAY are you planing to Watercool? For OC? Sound?

The so called all in one WCing kits are no better than high end air cooling.

The processor you have shosen is socket 1366 and the motherboard is a p55 which means it only supports socket 1156 processors.

THE MOTHERBOARD IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE PROCCESOR YOU HAVE CHOSEN
For that proccesor you need an x58 motherboard

Yeah, I know shadow, but the all in ones are good for learning, expensive, but they give you some hands on experience w/ water cooling so that better decisions can be made later on a more serious build.

Seeing as how his 1156 MOBO is paired w/ a 1366 CPU he has some bugs to work out. Plus the Raven is an "ok" air cooled case, it has a nasty design flaw where hot air gets trapped underneath the I/O cover on the top of the case. It's a smexy case but it does need to be modded w/ a dremel.

What I don't understand is that the EVGA already has aggressive heatsinks on it. Plus the Raven has only one 12cm exhaust. Right? That's fine if it has two 18cm intakes if it cant get hot air out then its flawed. I would go w/ and exterior Radiator so you can utilize your exhaust to keep what you don't have waterblocks install on cold.

like I said these are plans; I have intent to order the parts after my tax return comes in so im researching and planning ahead. thanks for the info for the mother board will be changeing that part for certain. To asnwer some questions The Video card I have has a fan cooling not that I couldn't try to remove it for that. For now the plan is to start off with just the cpu being watercooled. I selected the raven for it's size and looks. plus the front slideing panel was amuseing when I saw it in the store.

I've read the reviews about the case and Have already planned for keeping the I/O cover off. More due to the lack of clearance. One good thing I noted the case does have access points for the tubeing in the rear and the instruction book has installation guides for a radiator.

at least I didn't order the parts then ask the questions. Lots of good info and suggestions if you know any brands to avoid or seek out for certain let me know.

Just another side note on your computer, unless your planning on upgrading your GPU to a much higher degree in the future, that CPU is overkill. (assuming your going to stick with the i7 960)

Listen to conumdrum for water cooling adivice, he has some sick rigs
