Since my recent post about my Seagate 3TB 7200RPM drive dying, I'm looking for a replacement, either 3 or 4TB.

I found this https://www.amazon.ca/Blue-Desktop-...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=P4T358SDVKV5TDQNZ88Q WD Blue 4TB for a good price, but I'm concerned that it might be slow since it's only 5400 RPM. However, the bigger issue is the head parking (every 8 seconds). I'm going to be storing mostly general files(text, images, etc), maybe a few programs, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro files, etc and some extra files from Programs like data packs and other content.

Will the head parking affect me, or the speed of the drive, since my other one was 7200RPM? And is there a modern way to disable it on the WD Blues?

Or, would it be a better deal to go with this, https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0...392-182d8c1e93fc&pf_rd_r=WQ2NW53X1186VB2DP9C1 a 3TB Seagate but no head parking and 7200RPM. They're both basically the same price.

Thanks so much for all the help!

You can’t disable head parking nor would you want to. You are very confused. What do you think had parking means?

No, I know what it means, when after 8s or so of inactivity the head moves away to save power n stuff. I was under the impression this was bad because there's a limited amount of times it can be parked, and makes the drive slower (because I guess it takes time to get started again)? But if I'm wrong, please explain cause I'd love to know more :)

Basically will it affect me in daily use of the hard drive vs the Seagate that doesn't have the 8 second head parking time?

Thanks
