Yes, but laptop hard drive are rated for 300g of operating shock or more and 1000g of nonoperating shock, whereas desktop drives are only rated for about 65g of operating shock. They are quite tough. But always keep a backup of all your data whether it's to backup a laptop or desktop drive.
PS guys:: This 2TB hard drive is a 4-platter 2.5" hard drive, similar to Seagate's 1.5TB Freeagent Goflex drive.
14-15mm thick internal drive inside the enclosure, versus 12.5mm for a 3-platter drive, vs 9.5mm for a 2-platter drive, vs 7mm for a 1-platter 2.5" drive.
Macbook pro users, with a bit of elbow grease, could put the 1.5TB Goflex in their laptops, and I wonder if the same is true with this hard drive.
Yeah, the price is quite high for a small form factor drive. Usually high capacity laptop drives are cheaper than high capacity desktop drives, but with the Thailand flooding and all...
