Specs:
MSI MPG Z790 EDGE WIFI (MS-7D91) - - BIOS VER: E7D91IMS.H60
13th Gen Intel(R) Core i9-13900K 3.00 GHz
NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super
32 GB DDR5 RAM

I just recently bought this motherboard, installed it and wanted to add a WD_BLACK SN850X 1000GB to it, so I installed it and cant access or really do anything with it. i've tried to format it, but it doesnt show up in the disk management. I tried to change BIOS to CSM instead of UEFI with no luck, I have tried to delete the pool from storage spaces, also with no luck. it just keeps reappearing under unformatted drive. i can add a storage space (I) to the storage pool and access it via disk management and file explorer but not the Physical drive (M.2)

also think it is strange that the m.2 shows 0.25% used in manage storage spaces.

any ideas?

It might be a compatibility issue with your motherboard.

I installed a 1TB M.2 drive in the third slot on my latest build and it failed to detect the drive. I wasn't prepared to fit the new 1TB drive in either of the other two M.2 ports on my mobo, because they were already occupied.

When I transferred the new 1TB drive to an older mobo it worked fine. I subsequently fitted a different brand of M.2 drive in the third slot and it worked perfectly. Conclusion: compatibility issue.

Do you have more than one M.2 port on your motherboard? If so can you test the SN850X in another position. It might be something to do with lack of PCIe lanes or version number (3, 4, 5).

When I cannot delete partitions in Windows 'Drive Manager' I switch to EaseUS Partition Master. It can delete partitions that Drive Manager refuses to touch.
