[citation][nom]eduedu87[/nom]Couldn't you have waited just one day for if the "rumour" about firefox's 4 release was true?[/citation]
I waited several months on rumors of Firefox 4's release. I had a test system set up and ready to go for it on a few occasions. Duke Nukem Forever taught me a lesson.
[citation][nom]natmaster[/nom]@adamoveraI'm not sure how many times we can say that Firefox 4 is released.[/citation]
Yes, after the article published. Mozilla PR never officially confirmed any specific date until the story was already live. FF4 will be in WBGP4 really soon. It took a week lead time from IE9 to WBGP3. What makes you think FF4 would be instantaneous?

What about 64bit versions?
I'm interesting to see if there is any difference ...

Wow, I can here the sounds of Tom's kissing Microsoft's butt from here. lol.. Using all the other browsers final releases no matter how long they've been available, making sure to specially hold out for the very latest release of ie9 in hopes of it looking relevant with firefox's final release coming in days.. Specifically limiting testing to suit ie9's inability to handle more than 8 tabs. PATHETIC. If this had been any other test, more tabs would've been loaded and ie9 would've been disqualified for being unable to even compete instead of being catered to. These reviews are bringing me more laughs than the comedy channel. Like a bad rerun featuring PeeWee Herman.

Security seems pretty important for a browser, yet the pwn2own 2011 results weren't included?

(Spoilers: only Chrome and Firefox left standing.)

[citation][nom]adamovera[/nom]We only test final products in the WBGP.Where are ya'll getting a set date from?We add/modify tests every time with the WBGP. We're already looking into those suggestions.Doh! Fixing that now.[/citation]

I presume as I just updated Firefox to 4.0 a few minutes ago, AND there was no notice of Beta or Release Candidate tied to the download or to the install itself, that it is no longer Beta, or a Release Candidate.

[edit] Ok, a weeks lead time from release and testing to publishing. Acceptable.... Waiting on IE9, debatably acceptable, waiting an extra week on FF4, The masses have spoken as a "should have." These points have been argued quite a bit now.

Now IF this site gets itself back together (the thumbs seem to fail as "already voted" when that is simply not the case in the forum, where one can edit a post, instead of the viewing under the article, where the thumbs do seem to work properly)... AND knowing the big-5 browsers, strive to be W3C compliant in XHTML/HTML and CSS coding for cross-browser usage (I cannot say they do or do not) We shall be better off. (We already know about starting a war with Marketing will only hurt us more than not starting one.)

Note to TH Web Dev Team: validating THIS page where I'm editing this message, I find 42 Errors, 40 warning(s) issued by the W3C Validator for XHTML 1.0 Transitional coding, perhaps it's the fault of the forum software though.

I had just made a comment on another forum last week about Firefox showing its age. Just updated to 4.0, which wasn't available for this test run. It does seem a bit snappier but haven't used it much yet.

;)

wow... Am i the only one that can use the comment butten on toms with IE9??? for any one that is having trouble! look at your address bar see that little page icon with a rip through it??? next to the reload butten. its the COMPATIBILITY BUTTEN. press it... and you can comment all you want.

as for people complaining aboout FF 4 not being included. these articles are not written in a day and I am assuming that all these guys take these test seariously. these test are probably worked out well in advance, and having a not fool beta out that can still be delaiyed is not good buisness since we all know how bad that can go when it hits the fan.

I like that they just went ahead and did the review of the other browsers. at least it gets the point of comparison up sooner, and becomes more easier to check performance agains FF (downloading in the backround) when the results are released.

any way it goes I will still have both installed on my desktop and my notebook.

right now im just wondering how much these browsers effect battery life... it is a new generation, and more hardware is being utilized.

exploring the effects of battery life on these new final releases would make for an intresting read. throwing in other applications to! id like to see how far GPGPU usage VS battery life has moved, if it has had a significant effect, and how stable they are VS cpu only.

an issue ive found is that when i boot up my comp from sleep it freezes for aboout 5... 10 seconds then works(it does it on FF 4 beta IE9 and power DVD 10 among others), and its always something that uses my Nvidia card (is m11x r2). is this a sing of bad coding? I DONT KNOW :D but i do think its related to gpu switching and acceleration, which is becoming really popular and can be seen as a bigger and bigger issue as that can come up as time progresses.

I'm foaming at the mouth. If Firefox or Chrome didn't win it must be a case of the long sinister reach of Redmond.

Everyone knows Mozilla and Google are the good guys and Microsoft is the repugnant old cur that needs to be kicked to the curb!

Wow, there sure are a lot of FF fanboys here who obviously have never worked in the real world before. I hope you guys are getting paid good money by Mozilla to advertise FF4. If not, you are missing on some good business opportunities.

What if FF4 comes up short against IE9? I'm sure the tests are biased in that case. Maybe we should wait for FF4.1, or 4.1.1, or 4.2...

Sirs,
a big problm for me was that the Babylon 8 (may be Babylon 9 too) is not working under IE9! And Babylon 8 was also not compatibile to Chrome 10 and Firefox 4.
