Hello all,

Happy saturday!

I've got a budget of around £800 and I want to improve my PC, I feel like my 3070 is yet to be unleashed, however I've seen mixed reviews of all sorts of components being mixed together.

Ideally, I think I need a new mobo and cpu but any ideas welcome, please see my specs below

Mobo: B450 Tomahawk Max
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 3.60 GHz
Memory: 16gb corsair vengenance lpx 3000mhz
GPU: Nvidia geforce RTX 3070

All feedback is welcomed below, many thanks :)

I'd move to 3600mhz ram since the 3000 you're running is adding undesirable latency to the cpu infinity fabric as well as holding it's speed back. Investing in an ssd game storage drive if you're not...

Thanks all for your replies so far. I'm currently running liquid cooling on the cpu but my pc still gets boiling hot (don't know if thats because its summer). I feel the 3070 has more just from looking at videos on YouTube etc... I'm running a 1080p 144 HZ monitor.
2x8gb ram

A new monitor would be an upgrade.

Can you provide details about your cooling? Like exact temperatures rather than a figure of speech? Because if your PC gets boiling hot (100 C) then something is very wrong with your cooling system.

Do you have any software I can use to monitor it whilst playing games?

Personally I prefer games. As that's what you play. Again, you said "I feel like my 3070 is yet to be unleashed". What makes you say that? Is there a reason you say that? What is the reason? I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall with the lack of details, just your feelings saying something is wrong. I can't fix feelings. I can look at sub test results and tell you what can help.

Sorry - so I had a 1080 card before this, which was a great card. No complaints, but it became an old car very quickly, hence the change. So I play a variety of games, DayZ, Warzone, GTA 5 etc, you get the jist.

So the reason I feel I may be 'under performing' or 'yet to be unleashed' is that I have a friend who is running an i7 4790k and an RTX 2070 Super and we frame match give or take on most games. Just feels like how have I got more up to date components but not <Mod Edit> all over his performance?

Maybe I'm being naïve as it's not like his setup is garbage either.

Thanks for your help.

On a side note to this, my warzone frames are very up and down and this is replicated in most games, seems I can have like 20 fps jumps constantly, I'll try and gather some footage over the next couple of days to post to further explain.
