CPU:

Big difference in prices here. Don't think it would be worth it though. I guess the Extreme is unlocked, but can't the Q6600 over clock just as well? It also doesn't seem smart to spend an extra $200 for 200mhz from the Q6700

Video card:

Is this worth the cost? I was going to go with a 8800GTS 640mb, but for a little more would this be worth it?

You do know the thermalright doesnt come with a fan? Id go the Tuniq

Get the Q6600 others arent worth the money and it OC's well

If your getting the 24" dell get the GTX will handle the higher res's better... ive been looking at getting the Dell 2407 myself and it one of the better 24"s around and it aint all that expensive compared to some others
 
CPU Cooler: Fans are pretty good but i'd recommend a Zalman 9700NT. Very easy assembly, big like these fans and it'll keep your CPU very cool.

Case: Go with the Armor. And that case doesnt have less fans. I own that exact case and it comes with 2 rear fans, 1 front fan, 1 huge 25cm side fan, 1 HDD cage fan and 1 top fan. So that's 6 fans within that case alone compared to that mid tower's 4 fans (2 front, 1 rear and 1 top). Also those 8800 cards are long (the GTX is 11 inches) so your gonna need a case with room and that Armor will leave you with plenty.

CPU: Save yourself the $266+ by getting the Q6600 and OC'ing it to the speeds of the Q6700. If you get the Q6700 you'd be basically paying $266 bucks just to get 22GHZ more when you can just OC that 2.44 to 2.66. The two chips are the exact same just different clock speeds. You can even consider getting the E6850 ($282 at ZipZoomfly.com) who's stock speed is 3.0GHZ and has a FSB of 1333 (the Q's have a FSB of 1066). It's a dual core chip but it's a very fast chip. Unless your about to hack into the Pentagon dropping $950 on that QX6700 is a heavy waste of cash. Look at it this way for the cost of that one chip you can literally build an entire PC. If your CPU needs don't require you to have a chip of that caliber (like if your running servers or something) dont drop that kinda cash of a chip like that.

Video Card: The GTS and GTX cards are pretty good cards. GTX has more memory and higher clock speeds. Depends on your budget really.

Monitor: Good monitor but i'm sure you can find something a lil cheaper with the same quality.
 
How is the ghosting on those two? Not too bad? Not sure about the ghosting on the Dell 2407.

Also, how bad of a risk is there for image burn in with LCD?
 
Burnin with LCD is a thing of the past, it shouldnt happen anymore

Im looking at the Dell 2407 instead of the samsung 245BW because i live in AUS and cannot get the samsung without importing it. However, if i could id probably go the 245bw because of the faster response time... I believe it is a 6bit TN panel too the Dell has an 8bit
 
Dell seems to have upped the price of their 24" that I linked to the first post. It's almost the same price as the BenQ now.

How is the ghosting on the BenQ? Not sure about the Dell one, but I hear the Samsung has some issues.

Then BenQ also looks to have an HDMI (posted on newegg)

Cons: 1:1 pixel mapping over HDMI results in 5% overscan which will BenQ reports will not be fixed on North American units

Other Thoughts: I've loved this monitor since the moment I bought one in Feb, however if you're planning on using it for a PS3, 360 Elite, etc, it may not be for you. 1920x1200 and 1080p settings will NOT format correctly via HDMI using 1:1 pixel mapping. UK/EU branch of BenQ has issued a fix for the overseas units (option to turn overscan off), but it's not available to North America. Without the fix, 5% of the picture on all sides is cut off.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to the North American FP241W owners, but I spoke to BenQ USA again last night and received some annoying information. According to them (who clearly understood me when I detailed the overscan issue and its fix available in the UK/EU with the menu option), it's NOT going to be fixed in at all in the US and Canada! They're saying that, despite what other BenQ branches are doing elsewhere, as far as they know, it's just going to be fixed in a new monitor model instead (perhaps the environmentally friendly G series that was just announced, though the pricing seems too low to bein the same league as the W series). This is plain outrageous. I left a message for the main supervisor there asking how I should go about getting the fix elsewhere and if he can put me in touch with BenQ Global for options. As it stands, I might as well eBay it until they care enough to fix the problem here. So for us, no PS3, Xbox 360, or other external source will ever be correctly displayed via HDMI in 1:1 mapping mode. They will always have the surrounding black borders representing the 5% cutoff from the overscan. Switching to aspect mode will fill the screen, but it's still not exactly the correct appearance, as proven by overscan test images. You have to wait till Dell put the monitor on sale that you want to buy. I know atm in AUS they are selling the 30" for $400 less than the normal price, youd be kicking yourself if you bought one from then the week before.
 
The Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme is a very good cooler and it's best air cooler right now. But be careful as this cooler is tall and might not fit inside the case of your choice or obstruct something.
 
I'd say go with the Q6600 and get it with G0 stepping... it runs cooler and is oc'able very nicely.

As for the video card, depending on what your budget is, what games you play, and how you feel about things in general here's what I'd say...

Check out the GTS 640 if you don't plan to upgrade real soon in the future. If you have the money to upgrade, get the GTS 320 and use EVGA's step-up policy to get a 9 series when they come out in a few months. You could spend the extra for a 8800 768mb but why do that with the 9 series so close...

Those are just some thoughts and opinions I came up with after reading your post. Good luck with whatever you decide.
