if your not going to use two video cards your old unit was over kill. use a standard 3.5 7200 rpm drive was for the money gave you a 2g drive. one g are even less. the ar mb and cpu combo is 40.00 off this month at micro center (110.00). it in there flyer.

I don't need it no. No reason, just to have it. twin ssds for RAID 0 with the hdd as a nightly backup. Gaming.
I already have the os and HDD

i have the same gpu and cpu combo, i would recommend the i5 4690k over the i7 for gaming, its $100 extra for near enough no perf gain on games, The ram is good (i have the same) but you could maybe go for the LP versions. As for the SSD's maybe get 1 ssd and a 2tb SSHD. The case is preference but i will recommend the corsair 230t, pretty cheap and nice to build in. you also could leave the fan controller out, i had one and never used it, you can control the speeds using your motherboard. And finally the PSU is overkill, you can get a good quality 600w for single gtx 970 and if you want to sli 850w will be fine

1. If for gaming, you can save $100 w/ a 4690k

2. Id rather have a Phanteks PH-TC14PE color matched to rest of system

3. Say no to 4 modules, get something faster, better and less expensive
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/mushkin-memory-997121f

4. RAID 0 is useless so why not get a 500 GB ?

5. That's an extremely slow 5400 rpm HD (4.56 MB/s in Gaming) ...this is more than twice as fast (9.76) and $30 cheaper

6. I'd get a 970 with a better PCB (MSI / Gigabyte)

7. You have no need for a $300 1200 watt PSU, you will pull under 500 watts. An $55 EVGA B2 750 will easily handle adding a 2nd card ...a $105 G2 if ya want something real nice

8. You have superior fan control on your MoBo

9. Not seeing the need for all those fans

10, A $2k build should have a better MoBo ... the top 4 are all great and inexpensive

The color is black and blue.
And I really wanted an ASUS board.
I already have the HDD
I could go 500gb ssd instead
I am running an hp p7-7067c slightly modified at 86 degrees (processor) and 112 (case) idle, so I wanted to be safe rather than have what is going on now.

I'm currently running an i5-2400s quadcore @2.5ghz, with an AMD hd 6450, the Scopio V case, and a piece of crap motherboard. This is my first build and I just want something that is way better than what I have now. The one I have was a preassembled from costco but now practically nobody even knows what half the components are.

1. Blue is doable ... but the Asus MoBo is black / gold. The cooler can be many colors

2. Gotta get what tickles ya fancy, just wanted you to be aware of those 2 things

a) Gaming Performance hit on Asus board is just under 12% vs the MSI
Asus Z97 scored 189.7
MSI scored 211.5

b) Z97-A had a very high amount (27%) of negative 1 egg reviews, almost 3 times the MSI

3. Ooops, missed the HD thing.... you can upgarde later and use the green for a backup drive.

4. 500 GB would be better

4. Hope you moved to 2 sticks .... 4 will put increased load on IMC, put more heat on CPU and reduce overclock.

Wanted an ASUS mobo for the bios software. So not a huge deal. As far as mobo I couldn't find any blue/black mobos. I was actually going witht the Z97-E which has better reveiws than the A
