I think its about time I upgraded my lowly Geforce 4200Ti to something
newer. I am split between the cut price ATI 9800pro's going for about £150
or the new Geforce FX 5900XT also about £150.

Are there any conflicts with ATI or would the Geforce compliment the board
better as this is also an NVIDIA chipset?

Cheers guys

Matt

I've been running a ATI 9800 Pro 128MB in my plain jane A7N8X v2 for 6
months now, no problems here.

Mine is the previous de luxe version, and I went for the ATI 9800 Pro,
although I have not got round to installing it yet. Current price is around
£110 + VAT.

ATM, I am running an FX5200. Would I notice much difference for 2D (general
office stuff - Word, Excel etc) and dvd watching, if I installed my 9800
Pro?

In my experience, the RAMDAC freq./speed is a good indication
of 2D performance. If one is 400 and another is 300, the 400 will
usually outperform the card that's at 300.

Luck;

?
I upgraded from a Ti4200 to a ATI 9800, so I can't say, but heck even
the ti4200 was fast enough in 2D, for my use anyway.

I went from a ATI Radeon VE to FX5200, primarily as I preffered Nvidia dual
display features, and noticed very little performance increase for Office
apps.
Games obviously better but I only use this occassionally, then the more
basic ones.
