What is the difference between Coppermine and Katmai PIII's. I need to buy one what's the difference???

The coppermine is faster cause it usess fullcache of the processor...
As the Katmai usess 2/3
Anybody corect me if i am wrong....!!!!!

first of the cache .. katmai got 512kb coppermines 256k..
Go for the coppermines they have faster cache and can beoverclocked much easier..
Also i wonder if yuo can even get katmai any more fastest katmai is a p3 600.. but you better make sure you have a good cooler to go with it!

Hey man i dont know .. i just think i do !!

In order to fit the cache on the die of the coppermine, the die is produced using the .18 micron process instead of the Katmai's .25. This means that the coppermine runs a lower core voltage (1.65). You have to make sure your motherboard will supply the proper voltage.

The important thing to know is that the Coppermine core is better and that's the one you should buy. Just make sure that the processor you buy will fit in the motherboard. The Katmai PIIIs are Slot1 CPUs. The early Coppermines are also Slot1, but the newest Coppermines come in Socket370 only. So when you order one make sure your getting the right one for your motherboard.

Also make sure that your mobo can support the voltage. Coppermines run at 1.7V, and some Slot 1 mobo's cannot support that low of a voltage. I have an Asus P2B but the revision I have won't support Coppermines without using a Slocket adapter that controls the voltages too.

Also Make sure you don't have my Motherboard. Hehe....I just found out that my P3 450 is running in a P2 motherboard( Thanks Gayway). It can't support the 133FSB. I can only support up to a 600 Katmai. Oh well. I think I'll just clock the one I have.
