Ever since I built my PC (I invested around $2400 into it, monitor included), Ive had a seemingly neverending series of issues. First it was constant BSODs that got worse over time. At the same time I had moments where my PC would power on with nothing on the screen. Constant system file corruption. Nonstop game crashes. Long story short, the issues I had were:
Now, whats sparking me to make this post and reach out for help is something that happened recently. 2 days ago I visited my cousin, who has his own gaming PC he built recently, which he invested around 600 dollars in. His monitor is a crappy 1080p display that isnt even intended for gaming. He was playing Hunt Showdown, and I was at complete awe at how beautiful the graphics looked. This very same game on my PC looked buggy, glitchy, and very dull, with a significant amount of artifacts. I originally assumed that this was how the game was, but on his computer which overall costs a fourth of what mine does, his graphics looked gorgeous. We were both using the same settings: maxed out at 1080p. I immediately realized that there isnt any other possible explanation other than that I have some kind of hardware problem, possibly a failing GPU. I would really like your inputs on this. I can pretty much rule out software issues, as my drivers are all up to date and have been reinstalled, my windows is up to date. My graphics are optimized, I made sure of this. My monitor settings are also optimized. I believe theres likely damage to my GPU or even monitor, but again id appreciate any inputs.
my specs:
Monitor: MSI MAG251RX
GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 super OC edition (MSI)
MOBO: Aorus Pro Wifi Z390 ATX
CPU: Intel I7 9700k Unlocked edition
SSD: Samsung evo plus 512 gb
HDD: Seagate 4 TB HDD (5000 rpm)
PSU: 750 watt evga supernova gold
RAM: 2x8 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600 mhz
Ive also noticed that even after replacing my RAM with the good one, I frequently get corrupted system files when checked with sfc /scannow.. itll fix the issue but the files keep getting corrupted again. Many of the games I play feature visual and performance issues such as feeling very laggy at 180 fps, stuttering, and artifacts.
I was thinking of replacing the GPU, and if the problem persists, then the monitor, then the motherboard, then the CPU, but not the PSU and RAM cause ive already replaced those and they seem to work fine. Of course, this is expensive and a headache to try to replace the aforementioned parts, which is why im seeking your inputs. I also want to add that I am absolutely certain at this point that all my components are plugged in properly, wires included, so we can rule this out as a cause.
- My 24 pin MOBO cable wasnt fully clicked in, which caused graphics issues, and also caused the issue where my PC would turn on but nothing would show up on screen.
- my dual 16 gb ram from corsair was damaged. A memtest showed 300+ errors, and after swapping out the RAM with the same brand, I never had BSODs ever again. I went from 10+ BSODs a day to none. Zilch
