what is the best video player??

hey guys lately i have been having some problems playing some high quality mkv videos on vlc.... vlc would not support it and media player classic does support the video format but unfortunately it does not give the audio so good... so if you guys have any kind of knowledge about which video player is good these days.. please do let me know... and yes... the os is windows 7
