Question What might be the problem?

Hello!

Asking for my boyfriend here.. he has problem with ram frequency being clocked at 800mhz.. with and without xmp on... we can't seem to figure out what might be the problem before actually running it through the store the pc was bought at.

His ram is corsair vengeance 2x8 gb 3200mhz
Motherboard is gigabyte z590 gaming X..

Have you tried using one stick at a time? Maybe one stick is bad.

When you put in new sticks of ram you have to go in to bios and change the xmp setting to xmp 1 or xmp 2, then it should show the ram speed of 3200mhz.

there was only one xmp profile1 and it was the same with and without..

go to the bios and try loading bios defaults (reset).

no this is right after it was bought, still stuck on the same problem since buying it...

this is most probably an issue with your motherboard's bios, I find it hard to believe that both the sticks are faulty
since you've tried one stick at a time.
try resetting the bios by removing the cmos battery for 5 minutes

also try both auto/manual memory speeds

Use just one stick of ram in the proper slot.....see the manual.

alright, we have solved it.. for some reason someone set up the frequency to 800mhz. .and it works comepletely fine after setting it up to 3200mhz

Glad you figured it out. Your boyfriend probably did it and didn't remember, and kudos to you for sorting it out for him. (If he doesn't know by now that you're a keeper for this, dump his a...)

Hahaa thank you, but it was set like that from the store already.. so someone had to do it there and my bf ended up calling customer service and he changed it with them navigating him through the BIOS
