[SOLVED] What motherboard for 3700x?

Hello everyone. A friend of mine will buy a ryzen 7 3700x and he doesn't know what motherboard to pair the cpu with. He wants to buy a x470 mobo because x570 motherboards are really expensive. His budget is 120-160€. So which x470 motherboard should he buy? He doesn't want to overclock btw. Thanks in advance.

Most x470 motherboards will require an older AMD CPU to be installed to update the BIOS to support the 3xxx CPU's.
There are some that have a BIOS Flashback feature that allow you to update the BIOS without a CPU installed.
Also the new MSI B450 MAX version boards will have a new bigger BIOS chip than the MSI non-Max boards and be ready for the 3xxx CPU's out of the box.

Any x470, but will have to drop an earlier Ryzen in it to do the bios update. It's ok for people with existing Ryzen builds to upgrade but if buying new some considerations will require effort.

Wait for prices to come down or wait for 550 boards to land.

Asus Prime x470 pro. Working great with 2700x and will do so with 3700x . BIOS already exists but will have to be updated to v5007 using 1st or 2nd gen Ryzen.

So for example, if he buys the msi b450 gaming pro carbon ac, will he be able to run the new cpu using the bios flashback?

BUT it has a 16 MB BIOS chip so it will have a text based BIOS UI like this:

And it may (or may not) have issues with newer AGESA versions due to it's size limitations.
If I was looking to buy an MSI B450 board I would want the MAX version like this one:

Will this max version work out of the box with the 3700x? Also we live in Greece and this version hasn't released here yet.
